How much does indoor routing cost?

Pricing for indoor routing setup depends on a variety of factors. These include the size of the floor plan, the number of locations to map, and the different routing connection points. At a few hundred dollars per floor plan image, custom project may cost up to several thousand dollars.

How can I integrate indoor routing in my existing event app or website?

Once indoor routing is set up for your venues and custom floor plan graphics, you can link to the RouteInside pages from your website or existing event app. These links can be specific for a venue to display an animated pin drop down on a location. The EventPilot Conference App has indoor navigation built in.

How can indoor routing be customized to different buildings or venues?

Each indoor routing project is completely customized to your needs. The routing is set up based on the individual floor plan graphics you provide for the venue.

What are the privacy concerns associated with indoor routing?

Indoor navigation does not require indoor positioning. With RouteInside, there are no privacy concerns, because the indoor routing works completely offline and does not rely on the location of the user. Therefore, no location data or indoor positioning data is required for the indoor wayfinding functionality nor is the user’s position tracked.

How easy is it to update the indoor routing?

In order to update the indoor routing, you can provide new floor plan images. The project manager on our team will review the graphics and assist in updating the routing. Ensure that all locations have a unique and visible label on the maps.

Does indoor routing use GPS?

GPS relies on signals from satellites which cannot penetrate solid objects like buildings, making it not suitable for indoor navigation. While other technologies like BLE beacons can provide a technology solution for indoor tracking, privacy concerns eliminate this option. RouteInside offers an easy indoor routing solution that does not rely on the user’s position and works fully offline indoors.

How can indoor routing be integrated with outdoor navigation?

Indoor navigation is completely managed by RouteInside, either in the mobile app or integrated into an event app like EventPilot (or your own meeting app). For outdoor navigation between venues, the system seamlessly switches to the default navigation app on the mobile device.

What are best practices for designing floor images for indoor routing?

For setting up indoor routing, follow these best practices:

  1. Include only one single floor per image
  2. Use birds eye view
  3. Display all entrances, escalators, elevators, and stairs
  4. Show venue name and floor plan level on the image
  5. Include orientation and indicate North
  6. Design with a 4:3 aspect ratio and avoid too narrow images
  7. Compress the image to the smallest file size
