How is the EventPilot search different from other conference apps?

The unique scientific search engine is built specifically for medical meetings and academic conferences. It’s extremely fast and contains special features such as the ability to customize it with keywords, boolean search, global vs within view search, offline full-text abstract and ePoster PDF content search.

Can attendees filter their search results by date, time, or location?

Yes. The search within the program view can be combined with the filters available in that view. Default filters include Now, Future, scheduled, bookmarked, noted, flagged for credit, by day, by location, by session type, and by any of the 4 additional custom filters. Search and filters can be mixed and matched.

Can I exclude custom views from the conference app global search?

Yes. If you use Targeted Content, you may display custom views to only certain user types and not allow other users to find this content via the global search. For example, only speakers should see a tab to a special page about the speaker ready room and this page should not appear in search results. That’s possible to set up.

Can the search feature be customized to include specific keywords?

Yes. You can train the search engine for synonyms or analogues in EventPilot Pro. For example, you can teach it that AF is the same as AFiB which is the same as Atrial fibrillation. You can update the training in real time while your conference is going on. That training can be reused in any future EventPilot Pro implementation.

Is there a global search that includes general conference information?

Yes. The global search is available from the home screen of the conference app or desktop planner and in the mobile event app also from a navigation tab. It searches the entire conference program, speakers, exhibitors, full text research abstracts, scientific poster content (if they were uploaded by speakers), and custom views like general information.

Can attendees search for exhibitors or sponsors in the conference app?

Yes. The global search in the conference app includes exhibitors and sponsors. The exhibitor listing includes a search that just searches within the exhibitor list. The search works with the expo map and displays red dots for all found search results so attendees can easily navigate the expo hall and find the booths for service providers they are looking for.

Does the conference app's search feature support Boolean operators to refine search results?

The conference app’s search supports multiple terms, precise match in quotes, and exclusion in order to refine search results. Search results can be combined with a variety of filters to further drill down to the desired result.

Does the conference app's search feature include a spell-check or auto-correct function?

The conference app search include an auto-suggestion drop down after the user starts typing in a few letters. So if you are searching for pancreaticoduodenectomy, you only need to type in the first few letters and the auto-suggestion displays the full term as an option.

Can attendees search for specific attendees and connect with them through the conference app?

Yes. If the meeting planner chooses to display the networking option for attendees, logged in users are able to search for other logged in users and start a 1:1 chat. Users can choose if they want to participate in networking and display in the search results.
